Colvin and Moggridge were commissioned to develop a landscape strategy and detailed planting proposals for the grounds of a new Primary and Foundation Stage school designed by Dannatt Johnson Architects.
The proposals were developed to ensure the school grounds were recognised as a resource of the school, contributing to the national, informal and hidden curricula
Particular emphasis was placed on native planting to extend the existing native wildlife habitat surrounding the adjacent lake.
Small trees were arranged to create enclosure and appropriate scale for the nursery school play spaces. Larger trees were used to draw views beyond the site and across to the lake to draw this valuable resource into the perceived landscape of this inner city school.
